The Many Faces of Childhood Cancer

The Board, staff, and the many volunteers of the Society are motivated by the courage of the children and their families. These children are wise and courageous beyond their years, and have conquered more in their short lives than most adults will deal with in their lifetime. This page provides a glimpse into the lives of some very remarkable children.

Ainsley

Ainsley is an adorable four year old who was diagnosed with Wilms tumour when she was four. She absolutely loves horses and taking photos during her many hospital stays.
   
Alexa

Alexa is a very sweet 3 year old who loves making things with play-doh and putting together puzzles. She was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in September 2007 and can't wait to get back to regular days at preschool.
   
Britni

Britni is 13 years old and was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2003. She loves designing and making bracelets and animals. When she grows up she wants to take care of animals.
   
Darian

Darian is 7 years old and was diagnosed with leukemia in October 2005. He enjoys watching movies, and going to the playground.
   
Jayde

In September, 2006 Jayde was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), a type of cancer that starts from the white blood cells in the bone marrow. She is now 4 years old and continues to receive treatment. Jayde enjoys crafts, swimming and playing with her dollys. She would like to be Tinkerbell when she grows up.
   
Kara

Kara is 9 and currently in treatment for Ewing Sarcoma. She enjoys swimming, riding horses and dancing but is not sure just yet what she would like to be when she grows up.
   
Lauryn

The day before Lauryn was 6 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She is now 7 and loves swimming and gym. She would like to be a nurse or a pilot when she grows up.
   
Lexi

Lexi age 2, diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2005. Lexi loved music, sports and aboriginal pow-wows.
   
Mackenzie

Mackenzie who is 3 years old moved from Scotland to Canada in 2006. He was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2007 and is currently receiving chemotherapy treatments. When Mackenzie grows up he wants to be a welder just like his Dad.
   
Mason

Mason age 4, diagnosed with leukemia in 2005. Mason loves TV, movies, playing outside, drawing and colouring.
   
Miguel

Miguel is 4 years old and is currently on treatment. He enjoys Power Rangers, soccer, monster trucks and playing with lego. He would like to be a Power Ranger when he grows up.
   
Natasia

Natasia age 8, diagnosed with leukemia in 2001. Natasia loves to ride her bike and swim. When she grows up she wants to be a professional horse rider.
   
Nathan

Nathan is 9 years old and was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2003. He loves lego, playing piano and playing with his brother Tomas. When he grows up he wants to be a piano playing rockstar. Nathan is an amazing young man and charms everyone he meets.
   
Raelyn

Raelyn is now four years old. She was diagnosed with cancer in September, 2004. Raelyn enjoys arts and crafts, and loves to run and ride her bike. She would like to be a drummer, painter and helper to her mom when she grows up.
   
Taryn

Taryn is 6 years old and was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2006.  She is currently doing well and has another 10 months of treatment left.  She loves her younger brother Evan, going to kindergarten, princesses and doing arts-and-crafts.  Taryn is a loving girl and charms everyone she meets.
   
Theresa

Theresa is a four year old girl diagnosed with cancer and is currently on treatment. Theresa enjoys video games, playing outside and loves being with her baby brother.
   
Wyatt

Wyatt is 8 years old and was diagnosed with neurofibrosis in January of 2005. He enjoys climbing trees and would like to be a Firefighter when he grows up.
