Who We Serve
The Kids with Cancer Society strongly believes that comprehensive family centered programs are essential to effectively treat children with cancer. In order to meet the needs of the whole child and their families from the time of diagnosis, throughout treatment, survivorship and beyond, programs are developed that address the support, clinical and research needs of our children.
Programs and services provided by the Society supports the following:
• Children between the ages of 0 – 17
• Residents of Northern Alberta and N.W.T.
• Siblings of children with cancer
• Childhood cancer survivors
• Bereaved families
• The childhood cancer medical community
• Families of children with cancer
• The school community
Why We Exist
The Society exists because no other organization or hospital facility provides the necessary resources to adequately address the program and support needs of children with cancer and their families. The Kids with Cancer Society receives limited attention yet it provides more direct support and services for children with cancer than all other Northern Alberta charities combined. In this regard it is important to note that all programs and services initiated by the Society are designed to either enhance or create new opportunities thereby ensuring that there is no duplication or overlap of resources and services. |
